Judith Fordham commenced her career in science, studied law, then founded and ran her own law firm as one of the few female criminal lawyers in Perth. She now practises as a barrister and solicitor, and is also an Associate Professor at the Centre for Forensic Science, University of Western Australia, where her duties include teaching scientists about the legal system and how to give expert evidence. She runs postgraduate programs in forensic science basics, and in criminal investigations for lawyers in Perth and the WA Police.

She is a past President of the Australian & New Zealand Association for Psychiatry, Psychology & Law (WA), the Criminal Lawyers Association of WA, the Australian & New Zealand Forensic Science Society (WA), was a member of the Council of the Law Society of WA, is a member of the Law Council of Australia Criminal Law Committee, and the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, among other groups.

Her first love is criminal law, both for the human interest and for the fact that every day brings something new and exciting. The highlight for her is jury and Magistratesu2019 Court advocacy: the art of persuading the decision-maker that this person is different and deserves the benefit of the doubt, or the clemency the u201csystemu201d can show.

She will not sugarcoat her advice and tell you what you want to hear, unless it is accurate. She is one of the most respected lawyers in Perth. She will prepare you to be the best you can be in court. She is tough, welcomes a challenge, and calls a spade a u2026.shovel.
