Leon moved to Australia with his family in 2004. From 1998 up until that time he practiced as an advocate (barrister) at the Johannesburg Bar. His practice was diverse and his legal interests included human rights and constitutional law, commercial law, tax law, defamation, family law and general litigation. He appeared in all courts, including Appellate courts.

Leon was admitted as an advocate (barrister) of the High Court of South Africa in 1998. He was admitted as an Australian Lawyer of the Supreme Court of Victoria in late 2005. He began with Galbally Rolfe as a solicitor in December 2005 and was promoted to Senior Associate in January 2010. His previous commercial and other legal experience and forensic skills make him well suited to the criminal jurisdiction.

He is particularly interested in the intersection of human rights and the rights of a defendant accused of a crime. Since his employment with Galbally Rolfe began, he has taken on instructing in a wide range of matters covering all types of criminal offending (summary and indictable) including large fraud, drugs, and complex sexual assault matters. He also acted as instructing solicitor for various former employees of AWB in the Oil for Food Inquiry and currently in related Supreme Court proceedings brought by ASIC.
