In 1996, Marlene joined Legal Aid as a bilingual paralegal to assist the Arabic speaking community with their legal issues. After her contract expired, she obtained further paralegal positions at Legal Aid. After 5 years Marlene transferred to the Assignments section of Legal Aid and the following 6 years assessed grants of Legal Aid for family and Criminal Law applications, acted as a co-ordinator assessing suitability of matters for alternate dispute conferences.

Whilst working full time at Legal Aid, Marlene obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Justice Studies. She then completed her Law degree. Marlene also holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree.

Marlene has now been a solicitor for 2 years in Mandurah and her interests are in Family Law and Criminal Law. She has extensive hands on practical experience in all aspects of Family Law with particular emphasis and interest in children’s matters.
